The Region

Guernsey County is located in the Appalachian foothills of eastern Ohio, and named for the isle of Guernsey in the English channel, from which many of the county’s early settlers emigrated. The county sits about halfway between the major metropolitan areas of Columbus, Ohio, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Once famous for glassmaking, Guernsey County is still a popular destination for glass collectors to visit. Astronaut John Glenn was born in Guernsey county. Today, the area is a very rural area, with popular activities including horseback riding, and of course, premier white-tail deer hunting!
